IIT Institute of Design’s Design Research Conference

IIT Institute of Design’s Design Research Conference (DRC) will take place in Chicago October 9-10.

Designers are being asked to help solve a wider range of problems than ever before. From products to services to platforms, the challenges in our field require us to look beyond typical solutions.  This year’s Design Research Conference (drc.id.iit.edu) explores Steven Johnson’s notion of the adjacent possible. We will investigate networks of lateral ideas in related fields—such as behavioral economics, social psychology, and story-making—that can help design researchers find new solutions to this ever-broadening scope of problems.
