About Keith Gilbert
Keith Gilbert is the principal of Gilbert Consulting. He brings a unique combination of technical computer training and a graphic arts background to each training and consulting project.

While completing his degree in Computer Science at the U of M, Keith was employed by a publishing company where he had the opportunity to learn the traditional design, printing, and publishing process first hand. This included running offset presses, working in the bindery, keylining, and installing and configuring typesetting front-end systems. When the publishing company started a personal computer division to sell then-novel personal computers to writers, editors, and publishers, Keith had an opportunity to begin applying computer solutions to corporate publishing problems.

Keith began freelance consulting in 1985, and quickly adopted desktop publishing as his area of specialization. Macintosh PageMaker was in its infancy at that time, and Ventura Publisher and Windows PageMaker had just been released. He has remained focused on the design and publishing market ever since.

Keith’s formal classroom training experience comes from eighteen months as the lead PC instructor at Corporate Training Centers from 1987-1988. He logged hundreds of hours in the classroom, training many PageMaker, Ventura, Windows, Illustrator, and FreeHand users.

Keith is in frequent demand as a speaker at industry seminars and conferences. Training and consulting engagements have taken him throughout the United States, Canada, Barbados and Nairobi, Kenya.
