This is Chicago: Summer Gathering
A little bit of business. And a little bit of pleasure. Each year, as the weather turns warm, AIGA Chicago invites the local community to celebrate design, the city and of course, have some drinks.
This year is no different. We’ll be at Chop Shop and 1st Ward to share the past year's highlights, our vision for the future of the chapter, and give some serious props to all the people who have given their time to AIGA Chicago. This year we’re excited to bring back Snapshot and showcasing the work you’ve done! Be sure to send us your Biggest Win, Biggest Fail, Biggest Risk, Passion Project and something that Never Saw The Light of Day by June 5. We'll be showcasing your work digitally at the event and on our Instagram channel throughout the summer. In addition, each guest in attendance will receive a Snapshot risograph poster series designed by Bright Bright Great.
After we've talked business, we’ll invite Eileen Tjan and Margo Yoon, local designers to the stage to discuss what the future of design looks like in Chicago. There will be drinks. There will be snacks. There will be friends, colleagues, and new board members to meet as we say goodbye to old ones. Don’t miss celebrating summer and Chicago design with us on June 20.
Eileen Tjan is the principal/creative director of OTHER Studio, a multi-disciplinary design practice in Chicago, IL. She is also the lead designer and co-founder of Grand Circus Magazine, a print briefing about Arts and Culture in Detroit. Before opening her own shop, Eileen worked as an award winning Art Director and Designer at Design Army in Washington, DC and has also had the pleasure of working at Digital Kitchen and BBDO. Born in Singapore, raised in Michigan, and at home in Chicago, she’s excited for the future of art & design in the Midwest.
Margo Yoon is a designer whose 7-year career has evolved from graphic to UX design. She is currently at Uptake enriching data with empathy and making enterprise software slightly less painful for humans. Her love for the diversity and culture of Chicago motivate her to do more for the design community and beyond.
