New Opportunities Update

This mentor group continues to amaze me with their dedication. I’m so lucky to be a part of a group that is committed and totally willing to help one another. Tonight’s meeting introduced the world of digital portfolios, led by our own Connor Gaughan! Connor offered to lead the meeting since he has a ton of experience with digital design and online portfolios. We met at Alliance Bakery and had an open forum on portfolio creation, what sites to use for templates, Bootstrap and hand-coding, and hosting options. Since we all have different needs and are at different stages in our careers, we’ve decided to hold our 5th meeting as a portfolio site working session. Those with more web knowledge will help others with less, and there will be an open critique of portfolio pieces. I couldn’t be more excited!

In other news, one of my group members got hired at National Geographic AND secured a new freelance client! She attributes some of her success to the motivation she gained from being in the mentor program and from the candid feedback she received from our resume night. Awesome!!!
