Design Pride: Insights and Experiences
Join us at Morningstar for an intimate roundtable conversation at the intersection of life, work and LGBTQ+ identity. Our panel of designers will discuss their personal activism, internal advocacy initiatives, designing for organizations, collaborations with allies and more.


Moderator
Mike Joosse
Mike Joosse creates change within organizations. Since 2001, he has devoted his career to nurturing and leading design communities. Currently, he serves as Partner and Community Director at DESIGNATION, the leading UX/UI design bootcamp, where he helps prepare students to become conscientious, skilled design leaders of tomorrow. He has lectured across the country on community and careers in design, at conferences and to a host of organizations. He does occasional projects under the name Listening and Speaking.

Jen Marquez
By day, Jen Marquez is a digital designer at SapientRazorfish, a global agency that creates engaging and impactful experiences for their clients and customers. By night, Jen focuses her creative efforts on hand lettering and being the Host & Organizer of CreativeMornings/Chicago a monthly creative breakfast lecture series that began in NYC in 2008 and is now in over 170 cities all over the globe.

Jules Simplicio
Jules is a product and front-end designer with a graphic design background. Jules is currently based in Chicago, but was raised in São Paulo, Brazil. They started their product career at Basecamp and continued it at Threadless. Today, they are shaping the research field through their work at dscout, a leading mobile research platform.

Tessa Lathrop
Tessa Lathrop is UX Research Lead at Uptake. She specializes in Design Research and is tasked with influencing the development of Uptake's digital products and services to be creatively driven and human-centered.  She also is a Community Chair leader for Pride@Uptake, a recently launched community as a part of Uptake's Diversity and Inclusion initiative.
